CASTOR OIL
Castor Oil, also known as Ricinus Oil, is a triglyceride of fatty acids like most other fats.
Castor oil is a vegetable oil pressed from castor beans. It is a colourless or pale yellow liquid with a distinct taste and odor. Its boiling point is 313 °C (595 °F) and its density is 0.961 g/cm3. It includes a mixture of triglycerides in which about 90% of fatty acids are ricinoleates. Oleic acid and linoleic acid are the other significant components.
Castor oil and its derivatives are used in the manufacturing of soaps, lubricants, hydraulic and brake fluids, paints, dyes, coatings, inks, cold-resistant plastics, waxes and polishes, nylon, and perfumes.
Types of Castor Oil
CASTOR OIL BP 93 Grade
By first pressing Castor seed, pharmaceutical-grade Castor Oil is processed, without losing medicinal properties. It is transparent, bright, colourless or slightly yellow, viscous, with a rancid smell.
BP grade applies to the castor oil prepared according to the standards of British Pharmacopoeia (BP). This oil is commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry. Without losing its healing properties, the extraction is performed carefully. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are effective for rehabilitative and therapeutic benefits.

Cold Pressed Castor Oil
Cold-pressed Castor Oil is one of the most common and beneficial therapeutic oils, which was also used by our ancestors for centuries as remedies to any physical ailments and in conserving beauty.
It is obtained by crushing the castor seeds and without supplying any heat or adding any chemicals. As the medicinal properties and healing benefits of castor oil remain unharmed throughout the extraction process, it is the purest type of oil that is healthier than refined oil.

Commercial Grade Castor Oil
One of the most common and standard grades of castor oil is commercial grade castor oil, used for many industrial applications. This is extensively used in the production of textile chemicals and utilized as a lubricant in dyes, solvents and adhesives. It is also regarded as Industrial Grade Castor Oil. This oil is a result of a product received after the first pressing and second phase of production. This is used as the primary raw material for other varieties of castor oil and its derivatives.

FIRST PRESSED DEGUMMED CASTOR OIL (F.P.D)
First Pressed Degummed Castor Oil is an early degumming of Castor Oil, which requires removal of plant polymer substances to enhance the texture and colour of the oil. Without undue, accumulation and carbon- castor oil that is first squeezed, filtered and then degummed has the special lubricating properties of castor.
This grade is therefore used significantly in the lubricant industry. It has similar properties to the lower-coloured Commercial Castor Oil. It is used in Industries that need fewer colours of commercial-grade castor oil.

REFINED CASTOR OIL (FIRST SPECIAL GRADE – F.S.G/BRITISH STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS-B.S.S)
Refined castor oil(RCO) is extracted from Refined Commercial Grade Castor Oil(CCO), that is produced by crushing the steam-cooked castor seeds of the expeller. RCO is used as an essential component that serves as a lubricant in vitamin and mineral tablet coatings and as a raw material for the manufacture of value-added castor oil derivatives.
The CCO is processed by the bleaching and filtering method that helps to minimize the quality of colour, F.F.A.( Free Fatty Acid) and moisture. Furthermore, Refined Castor Oil is used to manufacture other derivatives of castor oil and useful industrial products.

RICINOLEIC ACID (R.A.)
Ricinoleic Acid is made from castor oil and is an unsaturated fatty acid. It acts as a clear, viscous, yellowish liquid. It is mainly used in pigments, printing inks, and textile finishing. The main application, however, is to generate different oleochemicals as chemical intermediates.
Castor Oil is the only commercially available vegetable oil that contains (70-90 percent) hydroxy functionality of a fatty acid. It is also referred to as ricinoleic acid triglyceride
